This Mission is Personal
This journey began with a dream. When I became a first-time father, I was constantly thinking about the future I wanted for my son.
One night, I dreamt he was a teenager, and he asked me a question that shook me to my core:
โDad, you were there when Bitcoin started. Why didnโt you do anything about it?โ
In the dream, my excuses were weakโthat it was a scam, too volatile, only for criminals. Iโll never forget the disappointment in his voice when he replied,
โYou didn't do your homework. You could have done better.โ
I woke up and started to study this Bitcoin thing like a madman.
My background in finance gave me a unique lens to see the problem, but it was my role as a father that gave me a mission: to make sure my family was protected.
That's why Simcoe County Bitcoin exists.
Itโs not about hype.
It's about sharing what I learned on my journey to help other families in our community understand this tool, so we can all build a more secure future together.

Then this meetup is designed specifically for you. Our goal is to make Bitcoin accessible to everyone, regardless of their background. We start with the basics, use simple language, and ensure no one is left behind. You'll be in the right place.
Do I need to own Bitcoin to attend?
Not at all. In fact, this is the perfect place to learn the fundamentals before you decide to buy. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.
What's the atmosphere or "vibe" like?
Casual, friendly, and collaborative. Think of it more like a chat with knowledgeable friends than a formal lecture. There's no pressure, and questions are always encouraged. It's a space for learning and connecting with like-minded neighbors.
Is this just a sales pitch for a product or service?
Absolutely not. This is a 100% community-focused educational event. Our mission, is to build a strong, knowledgeable Bitcoin community in Simcoe County. The only thing we "promote" is confidence.
Okay, but why is it free?
Simple. We believe this foundational knowledge is too important to put behind a paywall. Building a strong grassroots Bitcoin community benefits everyone. Our goal is to empower individuals, and making our meetups free is the best way to do that.
Do I need to bring anything? (A pen, a laptop, etc.?)
Nothing but yourself and your curiosity. You won't need a laptop, and there's no need to take frantic notesโwe prioritize clear, open conversation over dense lectures. The most valuable thing you can bring is your list of questions, especially the ones you've been hesitant to ask elsewhere.
